Is your -Ism part of a larger movement, starting your own movement, or just your own beliefs? Why?
I think that my -ism is part of a larger movement, probably the movement guided by the cliche of perseverance. This is probably because persevering is a big part of how I live my life, and a lot of other people around me influence how I think of my life. I think it is part of a bigger movement, along with a bunch of other of my own beliefs.
To Be Known
0 Comments Published by babyblankie43 April 29th, 2008 in AbStRaCt ThOuGhTs, FaMiLy, FrIeNdSTo be known for something
To let people know you’re there
To make yourself famous
To make everyone care
To set a record
To be the star
To be in the headlines
To set the highest bar
To heighten your status
To live without strife
To show them who’s boss
To be the best at life
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To not be known for something
To be average on the test
To be forgotten
To be mixed in with the rest
To know you won’t make a difference
To be lost in the crowd
To know you’re not the best
To never be found
To know you’re just one more
To be another stump on the log
To be cast into the corner
To be a drop of water lost in the fog
It’s a decision we all have to make
What makes us us is what road we take
What makes for a good belief statement?
- Descriptive words and details that make the idea unique and different from everything else
- Elaboration on the idea (explain your reasoning and opinion so that it isn’t just one simple, unsupported sentence)
- Has to be about an idea that is really important to you, to enable you to write a lot of solid details about it
What can 10 words do that 10,000 cannot?
10 words can have more of a meaning, and more of a chance for people to guess about what the words should mean. But 10,000 words give more insight at to what they are talking about, so there isn’t room for people to guess and ponder. It’s kind of just saying something that you think is true, and saying that this is the way it is, other than letting people think a little more about it.
The Way I Am
That’s just the way I am
I’m not going to change for you
You can tell me what you want
You can tell me I’m not good enough
But I’m not going to change
That’s just the way I am
You can say I’m stupid
For one reason or another
I might not know the answer
I might not know what to say
But that’s okay with me
I’m not going to change
You can say I’m not as good as you
You can tell me to stop trying
Everybody has their thing
And it might not be mine
But that’s okay with me
I’m not going to change
You can tell me that I’m foolish
And I don’t know what I’m doing
You can say I’m wrong
And for all I know, you might be right
But that’s okay with me
I’m not going to change
You can tell me my dreams aren’t going to come true
You can say I’m never going to be that
You can tell me to shut up and get real
You can make me do what you want
But that’s NOT okay with me
YOU can shut up, YOU can get real, YOU can listen, and YOU can stop bothering me
I’m not going to change
Because that’s the way I am
The United Nations has called Darfur “one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world” because Darfur is a widespread region and it has been devastated for a long time. It is mostly due to violations of humanitarian rights by the people. Also, nothing is being done about it. The violence has not been stopped due to the ongoing brutality, repeated help interference, lack of planning and strategy, and the weakened state of the obstructed Sudanese. Part of the problem is the group of rebels called the Janjaweed, which is a gang that has performed many of the attacks on villages and their people. However, the article mainly says that the poor governing of the region is mainly to blame for the tragedy. Throughout recent years, the region’s countries have all had multiple governmental changes, and these inconsistencies have caused people living there to rebel and ultimately attempt to destroy the government.
How will you find your happy place within a CSAP prompt?
I will find my happy place within a CSAP prompt by writing about something positive, and writing just like I usually do. The reason that most people are unhappy right before and during CSAP is because they over-analyze the test. They think that it’s a horrible, boring thing that doesn’t have a point, and they take the test with that attitude, but it’s not like that. It’s just like any other test, so that’s how I’m going to treat it.
1 Comment Published by babyblankie43 February 21st, 2008 in AbStRaCt ThOuGhTs“Calculated Risks”, a post on students2oh.com, got me thinking about questioning our learning environment (but not just in math, which is mainly what this post was about). Ever since the first school class was held way back whenever, there have been a lot of precedented traditions, like, in her words, the “Print and Puke” method of learning, that haven’t really changed, and now, our generation seems to be the one that wants to change them. The author of this writing, Samantha, talked about how the math classes that she has been in have always taught using the traditional ways, but the students in those classes were seemingly progressively annoyed, bored, and tortured. Now is the time for people to question, and ultimately rebel against these traditions. (Not in the bad way, though. You know what I mean). Unfortunately, most people are too oblivious to realize we’re ready for change, and that is why it is going to be so hard for people to learn new methods of learning, and of education. This is what Samantha seemed to be elaborating on, in terms of math class, and I agree completely.
Why is it so easy to persecute someone for their beliefs?
If someone’s beliefs are different from yours, and different enough to persecute them for, then that is how it can come so easy. And some people are so egotistic, and just “know” that they’re right and everyone else is wrong, so it’s almost impossible for them to not speak up about it.
