Essential Questions by Rachel AND Emily

1. We think the reason that Denver is where it is today is because, one, the gold rush. Many people came to Colorado for the gold rush, copper rush, and coal rush. People also tried to find a mid-point between the crops in the plains and the gold in the mountains. For this reason, they built Colfax. This road led from the plains to the city to the mountains.

2. We think that what led to Denver’s growth is the gold rush and because it is in the center of it all. Another reason is, Denver has amazing scenery. There are beautiful mountains, rolling plains, and best of all, it is the sunniest city in the country! (there are 300 days of sunshine every year!)

Other things to amaze the crowd….

  • Colfax goes from Aurora to Golden.
  • Named after Schuyler Colfax- who ended up to be the Vice President of the United States of America!
  • The silver crash almost caused Denver to be non-existent.
  • On Colfax there was a hospital that cured TB but caused pnumonia
  • Colfax became dangerous after first strip club…..

My Wiki Utopia Review

(A utopia wiki can receive a possible 5 out of 5 stars * <–a star )

Ed’s Wiki Utopia!!!

Comments: This is really interesting how the utopia is a hotel and you have to get a mind chip to get in. So I don’t think you could break the system but still. Mind chips? I give it  * * *.5 (three and a half) stars only because its not really a society because the people dont have to work. I mean they live in a hotel. Is there a hotel bill? And why can only smart people enter the hotel? They would not be putting thier smarts towards the greater good. It looks like this was a utopia that was made by totally going with the flow. Like it was made up in one night.

Zoos or no zoos

I think that they should keep zoos. If they suddenly decided to get rid of zoos and put all of the funds towards conservation then they would have to release all of the animals into the wild which in all of America there are hundreds of thousands animals in captive. Also then the money to support conservation comes from zoos. So when people close all the zoos there will be no conservation money, a lot more poaching, and a lot more of conservation they need to cover. So if they did indeed get rid of zoos completly and totally the government might even have to raise taxes to support conservation. In conclusion I would say that some of the funds raised from zoos, maybe around 25%, 30% percent, be used to help support wildlife and conservation. That way the almost extint animals can have a safe home away from the danger while people are helping to build a saafe habitat for them whe they return to the wild.Â

I relax

The breeze sweeps over me like a broom on wood

The trees sway beside me like people to a sad song

The water ripples next to me like linen in the wind

The clouds float over me like bubbles in the sky

The sand squishes beneath my toes like Jell-O in my fingers

The sun shines down on me like a spotlight on a stage

I relax

Existence

Existence is when anything exists. A thought can exist. And Nothing can also exist. Nothing is nothing but nothing is something and something is anything and anything is everything. So that means nothing is everything. Of course, of course.

I created a website. Laughter and humor was going through my mind when I created it because it was so funny. I felt like I had created it when I clicked the done button and I published it. I was proud of myself. Here is a link to it if you want to know. Right…here!

My Plan for “Personal Curriculum”

FOOD EXTRAVAGANZA

  1. Allie and I will research breakfast, lunch and dinner ideas and then we will build off of other people’s recipes for those chosen food items. We will each add our own little touch to it but keep that a secret until the end.

  2. Allie will write her own little recipe to the chosen food item and then cook breakfast, lunch and dinner while being video taped. I on the other hand will watch and take notes and then I will be a movie/food critic because I will critique the movie and then taste test the food and critique that as well.

  3. Once she is done cooking I will do the same and she will be my critic. (Refer to #2)

  4. After both of us have cooked and rated each other we will finally show our recipes to one another. We will then compare and contrast the recipes.  (We will not compare and contrast the critic essay writing thing because we each have our own opinions and that would be a little strange. You know comparing facts on the recipe cards and then comparing opinion on the critic pages……wait a minute that might just work. I don’t know it is under thought and consideration.)

ARE-Homework should be banned.

PROS

A- Homework helps us learn without forgetting.

R- Some kids could just fall asleep in school and then not have to worry.

E- It helps you:

  • Practice what you’ve learned during the day.
  • Establish study habits that will be critical in college.
  • Prepare for your classes.
  • Get a sense of progress. -From this site.

CONS

A- Homework takes away kids’ fun of being kids.

R- Homework overloads kid. It makes them tired and ugly. They become grumpy and the punishments become more fierce.

E- They don’t have time to just be kids anymore — they’re so bogged down. And since many of the assignments are simply busywork, learning often becomes a chore rather than a positive, constructive experience. -From this site.
