Denver’s Location

Denver is located where it is because of the gold found in Cherry Creek and the Rocky Mountains. Denver is the last stop to the Rocky Mountains so people who were heading west could restock with supplies. The gold in the mountains made a major migration to the Rocky Mountains. People traveled trough Denver on there way to become “rich”. Denver grew in population as more people settled in. Colfax became the heart of the city. As Colfax extended into different directions more suburbs such as Lakewood and Aurora.

Denver was also here because tuberculosis was treated here because sunlight is available basically the whole year. Once the sick people came here, they stayed because they liked it. That really helped grow the Denver population.

Write-on March 28, 2008

I think that specific comments that are relevant help build a wiki community. I also think that to a degree there should be no positive comments. Comments like I liked this, this is cool, they make you feel good but they don’t help you get your wiki better. They also help you get to work with someone who you don’t know. In positive comments you just discard them but with good comments you work with they person to make it better.

Review of lwthswtl’s Utopia March 25, 2008

Over all I would give this persons utopia 8 out of 10. I like how he has everything neatly laid out on the page and how he describes everything very in depth. The what ifs had to be my favorite part. He had good reasonable answers to all of the questions. He also used pictures very well to help explain what his island looked like. What I didn’t like about it was the qualification guide. IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It seemed that no matter what you clicked you never qualified (I never got past the first question). The transitions on everything were cool but annoying. When I was reading about the government I was done reading before the transition was done putting the words on the screen. That is the one thing I would do better. I want my utopia wiki to be cool when I build it but not lose people’s attention.

The audience for my personal curriculum is me and my classmates. That matters because I need to grasp their attention. Depending on who they are, they like different things and different things intriguing them.

Utopian Poem

The struggle, the hope,

The looking and looking,

Bam!

There it is,

Right in front of you.

For one full day,

Happiness is yours.

Then there is something else,

That isn’t here.

After looking,

And finding,

You leave willingly,

Because of 1 thing.

Leaving behind a dream world,

For on tiny little thing.

Always wanting more,

And those wants always changing.

You go on looking,

Wishing you had stayed,

But it’s to late.

Think!

If you hadn’t let one thing ruin your perfect world,

What could have happened,

What could have been.

Darfur Tragedy 2.27.08

The United Nations thinks that the Darfur tragedy is one of the “worst humanitarian crises in the world” because the violence and diseases has led to hundreds of thousands of deaths. More than 2,000,000 people have been displaced. That includes more than 200,000 refuges who have fled to Chad. Malnutrition rates of children have soared. Many people live in fear of being attacked. The people are treated very poorly.

The Janjaweed who inhabit parts of western Sudan are a militia group. When two non-Arab groups attacked the Sudanese government, the Janjaweed started pillaging the towns and villages from which the rebels got their strength. They are held accountable for the Darfur tragedy. The violence is mostly about the limited resources in the Darfur region. The Janjaweed are no longer scrappy militia, but well equipped fighting forces that enjoy the help of the Sudanese government. The Sudanese government denies offering any help to the Janjaweed.
