Do we need a new temperance movement? Why or why not?
Yes. We need a temperance movement about eating. There are a lot of obese people in the U.S., and many people are oblivious to the effects of overeating. They need to be reminded that being fat is not good.

Is your -Ism part of a larger movement, starting your own movement, or just your own beliefs?
My -Ism is just about my beliefs. I’m not trying to change the world, just making my -Ism. I don’t think it’s part of a larger movement, since other -Isms deal with specific mental and spiritual things, not just mental ability in general. Since I’m not trying to start something, or stir up trouble, I feel these are just my own beliefs.

What makes for a good belief statement.
Having something like in our 10-word statements. Something that can’t be argued against. Something that everyone agrees with but you have twisted into your belief structure. A good belief statement would be unable to be argued against.

What can 10 words do that 10,000 cannot?
Make an easily readable point. With 10 words, your point gets across easily. People focus on the 10 words, and can analyze them easily. With 10,000 words, you can’t focus on every single word, and you have to analyze a lot of text. You can’t as easily make out the point.

Is competing at a spelling bee different than competing in a sport? Why or why not?
I think it is. However, I don’t think the actual bee is what is different. I think the practicing is. With sports, you practice endurance, work on skills, etc. With a spelling bee, you memorize words. You learn language origins as well, but it’s mostly memorization. The competition is very tough though. You still have to compete, there’s judges, and you still get sweaty.

How will you find your happy place within a CSAP prompt?
I will find my happy place with CSAP by bending the rules a little bit. I like when we do free writing prompts, and I don’t really get nervous doing these. When I bend the rules a little (if I need to) it would make me feel more comfotable, and less like I’m boxed in.

Jan 20: My birthday. Parents finally promised to let me play ice hockey. I can’t wait. However, I have to learn to ice skate first.
Feb 4: Started 1st day of skating. The instructor is pretty nice, but she’s a figure skater. Ewww. She’s really good at skating though and taught me a lot.
Feb 7: Halfway through training. I’ve really gotten good and everyone says I learn fast. I’m pretty nervous though, the test is soon.
Feb 11: Finally finished training. Passed test easily. Tryouts for hockey are on the 16th of April. I’ve been practicing shooting. I can’t wait to get on a team.
This is a collection of a few journal entries I wrote. I didn’t actually write these when I was 10, but this is a true story. I tried to imitate the writing style we saw in Hospital Sketches, but I’m not sure how it turned out. Give me some feedback!

The Darfur conflict has been called one of the worst tragedies ever for a few reasons. One reason is because of how long the fighting has been going on. This hasn’t been happening for a year or so. It’s been going on for years and nothing has changed. Another reason is the brutality. This isn’t just fighting. This is murdering, pillaging, raping, and so on. The Janjaweed have become strong enough that Darfur is not a war, it’s a genocide (or at least an attempt). Another reason is the Sudanese government. While they say they don’t support the Janjaweed, Janjaweed officers live in government-run town,s wear Sudanese military uniforms, and are paid by the Sudanese government. While the Sudanese government denies this, it’s quite clear they haven’t done anything to help the situation, they’re only making it worse.
The article mainly describes the Janjaweed as the aggressors, and they say it is their fault. They used the excuse of some rebel African groups attacking Sudan’s government to go after all Africans. They rape, kill, and steal from them. However, there is another group to blame. As said above, the Sudanese government has been helping the Janjaweed. It’s kind of like a partnership. The two strongest groups (the government and the Janjaweed) against the weakest group (the African farmers).

As most of you reading this probably know, we’re trying out a new style of blogging. Most of us do ‘assignment blogging’, when we blog when we’re told and about what we’re told. I’m going to try List Blogging, making a list of things interesting or appealing (that will hopefully get a lot of comments), so here goes.
For my first list, I’m gonna list my top five sports. Send in your own list, and send me feedback on mine:
1. Hockey
2. Baseball
3. Tennis
4. Football
5. Soccer
I love hockey. I play ice hockey, and started playing street hockey when I was 5. I also like baseball. I play baseball, but it’s not as important as hockey.
Next, the top 5 foods:
1. SmartFood Popcorn
2. Chips Ahoy Cookies
3. Buttered Noodles
4. Chef Boyardee Spaghetti & Meatballs
5. Cool Ranch Doritos
SmartFood Popcorn is the best food ever. No questions, no comments, if you disagree, you do not exist. No just kidding, but it is the best food ever.
So yeah, there’s my irst list post. It might not be that great, but send me comments and tell me what I can do better.

I really was amazed by this blog. I thought the concepts and thought processes of this person were astounding. I have never thought of math this way, and it seems that when you look deeper, math isn’t about knowing what pi ‘r’ squared means, but rather where did pi ‘r’ squared come from, what deeper meaning is locked inside of it, and how do we use it. I was amazed by the thoughts like ‘Print and Puke’. That’s brilliant! And the best part? It’s absolutely true. We are fed information, expected to swallow it, puke it back up for the test, swallow it again, then puke it up in the work force. We really need to learn the concepts of these rules and theorems. Lastly, thanks for a great idea of math.
